Greenville is the largest city in Montcalm County, with around 9,000 people, and the county’s main center for shopping and services. If you live in Greenville and your clients do too, an office in town is the natural choice.
Howard City, about 19 miles to the northwest, is worth considering when your work pulls you toward the western half of the county and the freeway.
Why look outside Greenville
Your clients are spread out. Greenville is in the southern part of Montcalm County. If you serve people in Howard City, Lakeview, Pierson, or over the line in Newaygo and Mecosta counties, an office at US-131 Exit 118 is closer to more of them.
You need the freeway. Greenville doesn’t sit on a freeway. From Howard City, Big Rapids is about 25 minutes north and Grand Rapids is about 40 minutes south, both on the freeway.
You’d like a quieter place to work. A village of about 1,800 people makes for an easy drive in, easy parking, and a calm setting for meetings.
The drive
Most routes from Greenville to Howard City follow two-lane state and county roads northwest, and the trip takes around half an hour. Check it from your own address and at the time you’d actually leave.
When to stay in Greenville
Greenville has more office listings, restaurants for client lunches, and a busier business community. If those matter to how you work, or if most of your clients live in and around Greenville, stay in town. Howard City is the better fit when your work already heads west and north.
