Morley sits just across the Mecosta County line, about seven miles north of Howard City on US-131. If you live in Morley, Stanwood, or around Canadian Lakes and you’ve been looking for an office, Howard City is likely the closest place you’ll find one.
A short hop down the freeway
From Morley, it’s a straight run south on US-131 to Exit 118, then a couple of miles east on M-46 into the village. Most days that’s around ten minutes. From Stanwood or Canadian Lakes, add a few more.
That’s close enough that an office still fits into an ordinary day. You can drop kids at school, get to work, and be home in the evening without planning your life around the drive.
Who from the Morley area leases an office
Remote workers. If you work remotely from a home near the lakes, a spare room can only take you so far. An office gives you somewhere with a door, away from family and summer guests, where calls sound professional.
Local professionals. Accountants, agents, and counselors who serve clients across Mecosta and Montcalm counties can reach both from Howard City, and clients can find the office easily from the freeway.
Small companies. A two- or three-person business that has outgrown a home can take an office without moving the whole operation to Big Rapids or Grand Rapids.
Why not Big Rapids?
Big Rapids is about 14 miles north of Morley and has more commercial space, so it’s worth a look. The difference comes down to direction and pace. If your clients are spread south and west of you, or you’d rather not work around the Ferris State University calendar, an office to the south in Howard City can be the easier choice. It also puts you that much closer to Grand Rapids when you need to be there.
Winter
US-131 is the main route between Morley and Howard City, which helps in winter. The freeway is usually cleared before the back roads. Still, drive it once on a January morning before you sign anything, so you know what you’re getting.
